Obion County is a community facing many challenges,
in areas such as economic developement, social services, education,
law enforcement, transportation and community developement. Embracing
our diversity is an important element of planning for our future as
a community. It is the goal of Leadership Obion County to identify
and educate potential community leaders to prepare them for roles that
will make a difference in Obion County's future. Through this program,
potential leaders are provided with the necessary tool to face the
challenges of tomorrow.
Goals

facing our community and who want to get involved in helping shape

* To develop networks of concerned individuals who are equipped to
deal with the challenges facing our community.
* To fostor an awareness of our community's position in relation to
the region, state, nation and the globe.
Methodology
The Leadership Obion County program relies on sessions that feature
speakers, discussions groups, self-discovery experiences, handouts,
videos, tours and dialogues with community leaders.
Summary
Leadership Obion County was established in 1987 to create a forum for community
awareness. Participants in the program should possess the following
characteristics:
* A sincere commitment to the community.
* Interest in being an active participant in civic affairs through
membership on boards, commissions, clubs or other organizations.
* Potential for advancement in leadership positions within your business.
How Do I Enroll in the Program?
Applications for the 2008-2009 Leadership Obion County program are
currently available at the Main Street Office, which is located at
227 South First Street in downtown Union City. A selection committee
will review all the applications and will select no more than 20
class members to go through the program. It is the goal of Leadership
Obion County to operate a program that involves a cross-section of
the community. Individuals, businesses and community associations
